Floyd Mayweather Jr. has reportedly offered to cover the funeral expenses for George Floyd, who was killed in police custody in Minneapolis last week.
The retired boxer told Hollywood Unlocked CEO Jason Lee that he’s reached out to Floyd’s family and has committed to pay for funeral services in Houston, Minnesota, Charlotte, and another location that has yet to be determined, according to Kecia Gayle of Hollywood Unlocked.
Mayweather made the offer after learning that Anzel Jennings, CEO of TMT Music Group, grew up with Floyd, TMZ Sports reports. It’s not yet known if Floyd’s family accepted the offer.
Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s death.
